McKibben Boating Center of Sebring is a TAHOE® dealer at 7500 US Hwy 27 S, Sebring, FL 33876. We sell new TAHOE fiberglass bowriders and deck boats, take trades, and service the boats, engines and trailers in our own shop.
TAHOE fills the gap between a fishing boat and a pontoon. It is the boat you buy when the point is the day rather than the catch. Pulling a tube until the kids are exhausted, teaching somebody to ski, anchoring somewhere shallow and swimming, or just running across the lake fast enough that it feels like an outing.
Around here it tends to be the second boat for a household that already fishes, or the first boat for a family with teenagers who are never going to sit still for four hours of casting. This page covers the range, the bowrider versus deck boat decision, and what to think about before you buy.
New & Used TAHOE® Boats for Sale in Sebring
Lengths, layouts and power options change with each shipment. Use this as a guide to how the range is organised, then check live inventory or call for what is on the lot today.
Bowriders
The classic runabout layout. A pointed bow with seating forward of the windshield, a walkthrough to get up there, and a cockpit behind. The hull is sharper at the front, which means it cuts chop better and rides more comfortably when the lake gets stirred up.
Bowriders suit people who want the better ride and are happy with less usable deck space. If you spend more time moving than anchored, this is the layout to look at.
Deck boats
A wider, squarer bow that carries the beam much further forward, which turns the front of the boat into usable space instead of a narrow point. Dramatically more room for people, coolers and gear at the same overall length.
The trade-off is ride. That fuller bow does not part chop as cleanly as a bowrider does. On calm lake water it barely matters. On a windy afternoon you will notice it.
Watersports features
Look for a proper ski tow point rather than an eye bolted to the transom, a swim platform big enough to actually stand on, and a boarding ladder that a tired teenager can climb without help.
Storage for wet gear, tubes and ropes matters more than people expect. So does a stereo you can hear over the engine, and shade, because a bowrider with no bimini is a hard place to spend a July afternoon in Florida.
Power and rigging
These boats are sold as packages with the engine and a matched trailer. Do not under-power a watersports boat. Pulling a tube with three kids on it, or getting a heavier adult skier out of the water, needs torque you will miss immediately if you economised.
Ask us to confirm exactly what a specific unit on the lot includes before you compare prices against anything else, because package contents vary and a headline number rarely tells the whole story.
Deck Boat or Pontoon for a Family
This is the comparison most families are actually making, and we sell both, so here is the honest version.
A pontoon gives you more room, more comfortable seating, easier boarding and better shade for the same money. If your days are mostly cruising slowly, anchoring, swimming and sitting with a group, the pontoon wins and it is not close.
A TAHOE wins on everything to do with speed and water behind the boat. It gets on plane faster, pulls a tube or a skier properly, handles chop better, and is more fun to drive. If watersports are the point rather than an occasional extra, buy the fiberglass boat.
The question that settles it: picture ten trips. On how many of them is somebody being pulled behind the boat? If the answer is most of them, TAHOE. If it is one or two, you will get more use out of a pontoon.
Service and Parts in Sebring
Our shop covers engine service and repowers, steering and controls, batteries and charging, bilge and livewell pumps, stereo and accessory wiring, bimini and cover fitting, propping, and trailer bearings, lights and brakes.
The thing that ages a family boat here is not the engine, it is the sun. Gelcoat oxidises, vinyl seating cracks, and carpet or flooring fades and stains, and all of it happens far faster on a boat stored uncovered in Florida than most new owners expect. A boat that has lived under cover looks years younger and appraises accordingly.
Rinse after every trip even in freshwater, and pay particular attention to the bilge and under the seating where water sits. Wet towels and gear left in a closed boat through a Florida week is how you end up with mildew in the upholstery that never fully comes out.
Standard fuel advice applies. A boat used a handful of times a year needs stabiliser in the tank or it will need the fuel system cleaned in spring. And have the trailer bearings checked annually if the boat gets launched regularly.
Financing, Trades and Offers
Marine financing runs longer terms than a vehicle loan, which puts a lot of family boats within reach that look out of range on the sticker. Start an application online before you visit. Rate, term and approval depend on credit and are not guaranteed in advance.
Factory programs and rebates change through the year and expire, so call and ask what is live on the model and power package you want rather than relying on an older advertisement.
We take trades. Bring titles for the boat, engine and trailer, since Florida treats them separately. On a family boat, the condition of the upholstery, gelcoat and flooring moves the appraisal as much as engine hours do.

Count the people, then add two
Family boats attract passengers. Your children bring friends, your neighbours ask to come along, and the boat you sized for four is regularly carrying seven. Check the capacity plate and be realistic about it, because overloading a boat is both illegal and genuinely dangerous in chop.
Do not economise on power
This is the most common regret we hear on watersports boats. A boat that struggles to pull a loaded tube, or that takes forever to plane with a full load, gets used less and traded sooner. The power upgrade costs a fraction at purchase of what it costs to fix by changing boats later.
Solve shade and storage at the same time
A bimini you can actually deploy while under way, and somewhere to put wet towels, tubes and ropes that is not the floor. These two things determine whether an afternoon on the water is pleasant or a slow argument, and both are cheaper fitted with the boat than bought separately later.
Check the whole logistics chain
Tow vehicle rating and hitch, whether the rig fits in your driveway or through a gate, and what your nearest ramp is like on a busy Saturday. A boat that is awkward to get to the water gets used a handful of times a year no matter how much you liked it in the showroom.
Florida requirements before you launch
Vessel registration is required, and Florida requires a boating safety education card for operators born on or after a specified date. Life jackets, a fire extinguisher and a sound signalling device must be aboard, children under a certain age must wear a life jacket while under way, and there are specific rules covering skiers and observers. Confirm the current requirements with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission before your first trip.
Buying a used family boat
Press on the floor and the transom looking for soft spots, which are the expensive problem on an older fiberglass boat. Lift the seat cushions and check the bases underneath, not just the vinyl. Look in the bilge for standing water and staining. Ask for engine hours and a service history, and find out whether the boat was stored covered. Run everything before you agree anything. Every trade we take is inspected before it reaches the lot.
Serving Families Across Highlands County
For watersports specifically, the water around here is well suited. Lake June-in-Winter is popular with skiers, Lake Jackson is right in town for an evening run, and Lake Istokpoga gives you room to spread out on a busy weekend when the closer ramps are crowded.
Families come to us from Avon Park, Lake Placid, Lorida, Venus, Frostproof, Wauchula, Arcadia, Okeechobee and Moore Haven, and from lakefront homes up around Lake Wales and Winter Haven.

TAHOE® Questions We Get Asked
Where can I buy a TAHOE boat near Sebring?
McKibben Boating Center of Sebring carries TAHOE at 7500 US Hwy 27 S, Sebring, FL 33876, close to Lake Jackson and a short tow from Lake Istokpoga and the Lake Placid chain. We sell and service them on site. Call 863.465.2814 for current stock.
What is the difference between a bowrider and a deck boat?
A bowrider has a pointed bow, which rides better in chop but gives you less usable space up front. A deck boat carries its beam much further forward, giving noticeably more room for people and gear at the same length, with a slightly firmer ride when the water is rough.
Should I buy a deck boat or a pontoon for my family?
Picture ten trips and count how many involve pulling somebody behind the boat. If it is most of them, buy the fiberglass TAHOE, which planes faster, pulls better and handles chop. If it is one or two, a pontoon gives you more room, easier boarding and better shade for the money.
How much power do I need to pull a tube or skier?
More than you think, and this is the most common regret we hear. Pulling a loaded tube or getting an adult skier up needs torque, and a boat that struggles gets used less and traded sooner. Buy toward the upper end of the model's rating rather than the bottom.
How do I keep a fiberglass boat looking good in Florida?
Cover it or store it under a roof. Sun oxidises gelcoat and cracks vinyl seating far faster than anything mechanical wears out. Rinse after every trip, do not leave wet towels and gear in a closed boat, and keep the bilge dry. A covered boat looks years younger and appraises accordingly at trade time.
